Should I get my degree in nutrition along with being a personal trainer?
Question by Christie: Should I get my degree in nutrition along with being a personal trainer?
I am currently taking nutrition classes, and planned to get my BS. However, what I really want to do is get my personal training certification. Is there anyone who is certified who could tell me if it’s worth it to get my degree in nutrition as well, or will it be good enough to simply be certified? Will it make a huge difference when I’m looking for a job? I don’t want to waste money on school if I’m not going to need it. Thanks!

I actually got my degree in dietetics and moved to Colorado shortly after. There I found a school called IntelliTec Medical Institute. I had the same mindset as you, apply my knowledge as a personal trainer. I mean it really comes down to what you want to spend and do with it. It is definitely good to be certified in personal training if you want people to take you seriously, however I think it can be done both ways. Check out http://www.intellitecmedical.edu/programs/personal-training and it should give you a better idea about the personal training programs out there and what to expect. Hope you find out what your looking for. Best of luck to you.
